Hydroflux HUBER was recently awarded another project using mechanical sludge thickening technology for the Mundaring Sewage Treatment Plant in Western Australia.
The chosen technology, the HUBER Inclined Disc Thickener, can thicken excess activated sludge from the upgraded treatment plant to greater than four per cent total solids.

HUBER Inclined Disc Thickener
There are more than 600 HUBER Disc Thickener installations around the world with several operating in Australian sewage treatment plants. It provides up to 87 per cent reduction in sludge volume.
The HUBER Disc Thickener uses a stainless steel disc to thicken the sludge as it is conveyed from the inlet to the outlet. The outlet is fitted with a discharge weir applying pressure on the sludge mass leading to higher thickening results.
“This technology is energy efficient, uses minimal washwater and most importantly, the disc has a 15 year life. This is much longer lasting than other thickening technologies using polyester belts and drums that only last three years” said Hydroflux Huber Director, Luis Bastos.
The HUBER RoS2 Disc Thickener is a mechanical sludge thickener for thickening activated sludge prior to digestion or dewatering.
